On the edge of the ocean, Pearl is a creation by us for you.

Owners Jules Rydon and Bec Seidel are long time locals who grew up in the area, and have returned following a number of years working across the world and in the eastern states. They are excited to now be able to share their dream of opening a fresh, local seafood restaurant in their home town.

Together with Jules’ dad Dave, Bec and Jules designed and built Pearl with the help of family and friends. It has been a long but exciting journey, and they are extremely proud to have constructed a building that sits so well in its coastal environment.

Why Pearl? We wanted a name that depicts the obvious connection with the sea but one that doesn’t define your dining occasion. The surface of every pearl is unique like a fingerprint – symbolic of us making our mark on the coastline and representing changing physical and food experiences. Pearls in their true essence are a natural anomaly, organically formed. We wanted to expand on this idea with our building and create something singular but harmonious with its environment, utilising natural materials and colours. The pitches of the roof have been designed to emulate a shell opening towards the ocean. And the circular imagery in our branding is symbolic of a cycle - the idea of the food waste we generate in the preparation of our food being returned to compost for use in growing more vegetables, back to the plate and so on.
